These have the Aris Allen Raw Sole - (see below) flexible hard leather with a raw, unfinished surface on both sole & heel just like 40's dance shoes. Designed with the swing dancer in mind.

CONSTRUCTION:
A note about Aris Allen Men's Captoes and Wingtips:
These shoes are absolutely 100% handmade. The cutting of the leather is done by hand - not stamped out, the glue is put on with a brush, not a machine, the sewing, while done with a sewing machine, is done one at a time.

This means that the shoe on your feet is the product of a craftsman who sees the shoe from start to finish. This also explains why you will find the occasional imperfection. These are not stamped out, they are made just a few at a time. And yes, this explains why you will occasionally see that we're temporarily out of your size!!!

The footbed is lined with foam so it's much more comfortable than ordinary shoes.

Sole is flexible to help you feel the floor. Great swing dance shoes because of the styling, slideable sole, and the comfort you need in a swing shoe (that's going to be on the hardwood all night).

These are designed for the intermediate / advanced swing dancer - but they're also great as a second pair for beginners... the "fastness" of the sole forces you to "find your center".

SIZING TIPS:
We find that these run true to size. So order your usual men's dress shoe size. (not athletic shoe size).

The Aris Allen Raw Sole
is made from hard leather with a raw finish. It feels like velvet and acts a lot like Chrome Leather (suede) - it allows you to spin and slide, and still control the floor.

NOTE: If you find the sole has picked up dirt from the floor and is slowing down, just shuffle your feet on the sidewalk once or twice to refresh it.

Heel is shown below - note the rubber on top of the leather bottom for shock absorption.
