This is not a circle skirt. It is designed to be fitted around the waist and hips, then dramatically flares out at the bottom. Photo at right shows what happens when you stop spinning and what it looks like when you're standing still.
The bottom hem should hang (on most) at or barely below the knee. Fabric is heavy enough to swish nicely when you stop for a break. This skirt was chosen for the show "So You Think You Can Dance" for the Lindy Hop routine... Yes! THEY'RE MACHINE WASHABLE! The skirts are unlined and the material has some "give" to it. The photos make the skirt look like it comes in different lengths... it does not, the model was just spinning faster in the red pic. This beautiful skirt was designed by Lindy Hopper Naomi Uyama who has spent most of the last 10 years of her life creating beautiful retro/vintage-inspired clothing (that, and A LOT of dancing). |

NOTE: the back is a little longer than the front - because if it wasn't it would look like you'd hiked it up in the rear. |
